Optima Low Vision Services Ltd is the UK’s leading designer and supplier of low-vision aids in the UK and increasingly exporting worldwide.
We offer products from simple pocket magnifiers, illuminated magnifiers, anti-glare filters to telescopic aids and electronic video magnifiers.
Our activity in the research and design of specialist low vision equipment in conjunction with our face to face assessment and therapy service directly to visually impaired people places us in a unique position to understand directly the needs of our visually impaired clients.
Optima Low Vision Services was launched in 1994 by John Collins BA Dip. Soc. Std. CQSW. John, who has been visually impaired from birth, has been involved in the low vision field since the late 1970’s and has presented research papers at many national and international conferences on low vision issues. He has also published papers on the assessment and rehabilitation of visually impaired people.
John has recently been joined by his son Sean Collins, who is taking the company forward to new levels and has taken on the role of Managing Director.
John, Sean and the dedicated team at Optima are passionate about the continuing improvements to low vision services.
In recent years Optima Low Vision Services have become involved in the research and design of low vision aids and have commissioned a design company and manufacturer to develop and produce our own range of magnifiers based on our years of experience and knowledge, together with feedback from our visually impaired clients. As a result of this innovative work Optima Low Vision designed items are becoming sought after worldwide.
